Panerai – the luxury watch brand known for its merger of Swiss watchmaking precision and Italian design – and Brabus – the globally renowned luxury mobility brand hailing from Germany’s Ruhr region – formed a partnership last year “based on their shared goal of pushing the boundaries of technology, style and performance in their respective industries.” This partnership has resulted in a collection of watches, based on the Submersible S model, that blend the best of each brand to create a unique identity.
The latest release from this collaboration is the Panerai Submersible S Brabus Verde Militare Edition. This watch is designed to complement a new entry in the Brabus Marine Shadow series of luxury powerboats, characterized by its stealth green colour. This watch, limited to 200 pieces, shares many similarities with its predecessors but stands out with its use of new materials and a completely revamped design.
Brabus Verde Militare Edition features a 47mm case made of Carbotech, a composite material first used in watchmaking by Panerai. Lighter than steel or titanium and resistant to corrosion, Carbotech is a strong and adaptable material that is easy to wear in harsh conditions.
The watch is also distinguished by its military green accents on the hands, rehaut, rubberized crown, am/pm indicator, and small seconds sub-dial. The Brabus logo on the movement lever and loop confirms the collaborative nature of the watch.
The watch is powered by the P.4001/S caliber, an automatic, skeletonized movement that is based on the P.4000 caliber, the first automatic movement with an off-center micro-rotor developed by the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel. With a three-day power reserve, the watch’s indicator appears on the reverse of the case. The watch also features cutting-edge technology that allows for maximum visibility of the skeletonized movement, unobstructed by the date disc, which is only visible through the window at 3 o’clock, thanks to the patented polarized date display.
The 47mm watch features a unidirectional rotating bezel to calculate immersion time and GMT function, while the one-piece, off-center oscillating weight allows for bi-directional winding, with the two spring barrels efficiently winding the watch during wear. With its skeletonized structure, the watch is notably lightweight.
The stop balance wheel and seconds reset devices also enable the time to synchronize with a reference time signal. Water-resistant to 30 bar (~ 300 meters), the watch comes with two straps, a black bi-material version composed of calf leather and rubber, and a second in military green rubber, as well as a screwdriver for removing the buckle.
The limited availability of the Panerai Submersible S Brabus Verde Militare Edition, along with its association with the Brabus Marine Shadow series of luxury powerboats, make it a highly sought-after piece for connoisseurs of luxury watches and high-performance boats.
