“At Singer, we aim to enhance performance whether it’s a matter of cars or watches,” reads a quote by Singer Reimagined, the award-winning watchmaker based in Geneva. The watchmaker is a subsidiary of the Singer Group, renowned for its bespoke restorations and modifications of Porsche 911s. Singer Reimagined has recently announced the Singer Flytrack collection that will be officially launched in the Spring of 2021.

However, the Singer Flytrack Prime Edition, comprising just 30 exclusive pieces, is available for collectors who wish to possess a standout Singer Flytrack before the official launch date. The 30 pieces are made up of 10 units of each of the three models within the Singer Flytrack Collection – Tachymeter, Telemeter and Pulsometer. Every watch in the edition will be numbered from 1 to 10 with an 18k gold digit on the case.

The Singer watch brand made its debut in 2017 with the Track1. It presented a chronograph that was both reimagined and re-engineering. Not surprisingly, it went on to win several international prizes, including the 2018 Chronograph Award at the prestigious Grand Prix de la Haute Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). The Singer Flytrack collection is the second offering by the independent watch brand.

Singer Reimagined is the result of a friendship between two men with a shared passion for design and engineering. Rob Dickinson, following a decade-long career as the songwriter and front-man for the group Catherine Wheel, founded the California-based Singer Vehicle Design in 2008. Rob has had a lifelong fascination for automotive design, and in particular the 911. Classic watch design has been his other passion. Marco Borraccino has run his own design consultancy office in Geneva since 2009, and has worked on the collections of several luxury brands.

Their shared passion for cars, music, and watches eventually led to the idea of creating “timepieces that would reimagine high-watchmaking.” The two men then teamed up with Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, one of Switzerland’s most creative independent watchmakers and founder of Agenhor in 1996. The multi-award-winning Agenhor specialises in the design of complex mechanical modules for some of the world’s most prestigious brands.

The Singer Flytrack collection was conceived, according to the brand, “to provide the most instantaneous and instinctive way of measuring short elapsed times.” A Singer Flytrack is a “time only” watch featuring the brand’s signature peripheral hours-disc indication combined with central minutes and central swiping seconds. The standout feature of the collection is accessible through a push-button at 2 o’clock. The proprietary Flytrack system allows the instant conversion of the central sweeping seconds hand, when needed, into its specialised function.

Once again, Agenhor was charged with conceiving the complication that allows easy measurement of multiple sequential events – The Singer AGH6364. This mechanism enables the measurement of short events, as many times one wishes, without interfering with the timekeeping. Holding the push-button down keeps the seconds hand motionless at zero. Releasing the button sets the hand moving in an instant, allowing quick-reaction, light-speed starts. Pushing and releasing the button, resets and restart the central second hand immediately for time measurements. The device can also be used to zero-reset the time by holding the push-button down and releasing it precisely at the right moment, to synchronise the watch.

The AGH6364 movement comes from noble stock, sharing its architecture with the award-winning Agengraphe. A dedicated development team focused on developing a “playful yet useful complication aiming to be the most minimalistic iteration on the chronograph theme.”

The manual winding movement has 314 components, two barrels providing 55 hours of power reserve, 49 jewels and the flyback and zero-reset function. The clutch, provided with triangular teeth, features a ratio of one tooth to three, to limit it jumping forward or backward. This reduces errors in case of shock. In the worst case, the seconds hand can jump of maximum 1 degree.

A large lever permanently keeps the system engaged, allowing the seconds hand swiping motion. When the user presses the reset button, the lever releases the clutch which disengages. The lever also acts as a reset hammer by pressing on a heart-cam in the centre. When the user releases the button, the lever returns to its initial position and re-engages the system to restart the seconds hand motion instantly.

The three models in the Singer Flytrack Prime Edition feature a Grade 5 Titanium case with matte micro-blasted finishing and hand-polished accents. The 18k gold serial number of each piece is hand-applied directly on the case. The three models – inspired by three classic chronographic scales along with the hours, minutes and seconds – posses distinctive styling and specialisation depending on their specific function.

Singer Flytrack Tachymeter

The “Tachymeter” allows easy calculation of average speed over a set distance. The dial has a matte black velvety-feel. It featuring the triple tachymetric scale, allowing measurement of average speeds from 20 to 300 Kmph. The circular brushed rehaut with black index felicitates easy reading. The rotating hour disc, in black matte ceramic, is highlighted by an orange luminescent arrow. The strap is black, soft calf-leather in rally-style, with orange stitching.

Singer Flytrack Telemeter

The “Telemeter” allows easy calculation of the distance between two points, or the distance between the wearer and an event; like lightning. This tool has its roots in timepieces provided to soldiers observing artillery fire. Once again the dial is matte black with a velvet-finish. It is highlighted by a luminescent green distance scale, measuring up to 15 km. Luminescent green indexes also highlight the circular brushed black rehaut for easy time reading. The rotating hour disc, in black matte ceramic, has a white luminescent arrow. The strap is black, technical textile with green stitching.

Singer Flytrack Pulsometer

The “Pulsometer” allows easy reading of one’s heart-rate by pushing the button and counting 15 heart-beats. The heart-rate can then be read from the scale. Here the dial is matte “Tobacco” brown with the velvet-finish. The ecru scale is indexed to 15 beats. The brushed golden rehaut has contrasting black index for easy reading. The rotating hour disc, in black matte ceramic, has an ecru luminescent arrow. The brown calfskin leather strap has orange stitching.

Reservations for the 30 Flytrack Prime Collection timepieces have been open since November 2. The serial number will be assigned according to the order in which reservations are received. Reservations for the Prime and regular collection pieces can be made at the Singer Reimagined website and at its official retailers. The listed retail price is CHF 26,500. This price excludes local taxes but includes worldwide shipping. We are informed that deliveries will commence in April 2021, and the delivery schedule will follow the order in which reservations are received.
