The creative partnership of Audemars Piguet and Italian jewellery designer Carolina Bucci deliver another surprise with the eponymous 37 mm limited edition Royal Oak in yellow gold paired with a shiny, silver-toned mirrored dial. Described by its designer as “rebellious” in character, this is an attention-grabbing piece, “made in the image of a woman of today: spontaneous, true-to-life and totally unapologetic.“

Audemars Piguet’s first collaboration with Carolina was back in 2016 to commemorate ’40 years of Royal Oak for women.’ It gave us the 37 mm and 33 mm versions of the Royal Oak in both white and rose gold. The 37 mm pieces were powered by the automatic calibre 3120, and a quartz movement powered the 33 mm versions. These two were followed up with the release of a limited-edition men’s version in 41 mm as well as a series of new dial colours for the original models.

“It’s a fresh take on an icon made in the image of a contemporary woman. The mirror is always interacting with its environment, ever-changing according to what clothes you’re wearing, the décor of the room, the lighting, the time of day, the weather.” – Carolina Bucci, Jewellery designer.

The latest design from Carolina evolves in new directions. For the first time, the ‘diamond dust’ finish appears in 18-carat yellow gold; the designer’s favourite version of this precious metal. The 9.8 mm thick hammered case combines the yellow gold with glare-proofed sapphire crystal, caseback, and screw-locked crown. The frosted yellow gold finish extends onto the bracelet with AP folding clasp. The new Silver-toned mirror dial with yellow gold applied hour-markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating replaces the trademark “Tapisserie” Royal Oak dial. The self-winding movement with a power reserve of 60 hrs combines functionality and precision timekeeping with exceptional aesthetics.

The packaging is a mirrored box bearing a Frosted Gold AP insignia. This mirrored box is also designed by Carolina Bucci, who believes in pulling out luxury watch packaging from the back of the closet to put it on display. Only 300 examples of this series will be produced with a price tag of $ 53,600 and will be available exclusively in boutiques.
