The street circuits of Monte Carlo are where many greats of the motor racing world became legends, be they cars or their drivers. Every two years, these legends return to relive the essence of their glory days in the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique; now considered one of the best classic car races in Europe.
2018 was the 11th running of this truly unique and prestigious event, and as always, Chopard was there as the sponsor and official timekeeper. A natural alliance for a maison whose obsession with manufacturing precision and exquisite timekeepers is matched by their Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele’s passion for historical classics of the automotive world.
“We have a true passion for cars and classic racing, and this is probably the best event you can find on the circuit anywhere in the world. I would like to congratulate the Automobile Club de Monaco on the tremendous work they do in the field of classic cars, and to salute the enduring quality of their organisation over the years. It is a true honour for Chopard to be associated again with the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique.” said Karl-Friedrich Scheufele.
Joining him were friends of the Maison and pilots, Jacky Ickx, Derek Bell, Vanina Ickx, and Vic Elford, who drove in the Chopard parades celebrating the 70th anniversary of Porsche.
As it has done for each of the past editions of this historic race, Chopard created and dedicated the 44.5 mm Grand Prix de Monaco Historique 2018 Race Edition watch. Limited to just 250 pieces, it features bead blasted titanium and stainless steel, a mechanical chronograph movement with automatic winding, a blue and orange barenia calfskin bracelet or on a blue and orange NATO bracelet. Limited to just 100 pieces is sub-variant in bead blasted titanium, 18-carat rose gold and stainless steel.
