Here is our selection of nine watches from five boutique watch brands that were unveiled on Day 1 of Geneva Watch Days.
Doxa Army in Steel
Following the introduction of the ceramic Doxa Army ‘Watches of Switzerland Edition’ in April with only 100 made, Doxa is adding the Doxa Army in stainless steel to its non-limited line-up – a model highly anticipated by the community of Doxa collectors.
The Doxa Army in steel comes with a choice of two bezel versions: a steel bezel with a black ceramic insert and, for the first time, a bronze bezel with a hunter-green ceramic insert. Fifty years after the birth of the Doxa Army, the brand celebrates its history with the elite Swiss Army Divers unit by reissuing this iconic model that has achieved cult status and is instantly recognizable. Doxa is now available at select Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons boutiques in the UAE.
Ulysse Nardin Lady Diver 39 mm and Blast Tourbillon 45 mm
Ulysse Nardin celebrates the Geneva Watch Days with two new versions of its Lady Diver 39 mm and Blast Tourbillon 45 mm timepieces, both inspired by the iridescent rainbow colours of silicium.
In 2001 the brand was the first watchmaker to introduce a timepiece with silicium escapement components – and the Freak was born. Since then, Ulysse Nardin has incorporated this metalloid into several of its movements, including the Blast Tourbillon’s calibre UN-172 and the Lady Diver’s calibre UN-816. Inspired by the shimmering colours of this revolutionary material, the bezels of these two new models are adorned with purple, green, blue or pink gemstones that sparkle in the sunlight for a “rainbow” effect.
HYT saga Mission Hastroid Supernova Blue
Vibrant and calming in equal measure, blue is a surprising shade that conjures up images of both the unchanging beauty of the Earth, the “blue planet,” and the magnetic power of fields of stars, as well as the energy resources of electric engines of the future. It is not surprising, however, that Davide Cerrato, HYT CEO and creative director, chose this colour with its multiple connotations and strong emotional aesthetic for the new Hastroid watch.
Oris Aquis Date 36.5mm
Oris introduced a new trio of Aquis Date 36.5mm models with mother-of-pearl dials in three stylish colours. The familiar, tapered silhouette of the Aquis Date diver’s watch forms the base for each of the three pieces, but they are distinguished by their high-contrast Blush Pink, Aegean Blue and Seafoam Green dials. Crafted with other-of-pearl, the dials shimmer playfully in the light like the surface of the water at sunset, adding an elegant, sophisticated hue to the Aquis’s high-performance profile.
Oris Divers Sixty-Five 12H Calibre 400
The new Divers Sixty-Five 12H Calibre 400 spans over half a century of Oris watch design and movement creation. The spirit of Oris’s first diver’s watch, introduced in 1965, continues to inspire the form of the Divers Sixty-Five, only now it’s equipped with Oris Calibre 400, a new automatic. This means the new watch has elevated levels of anti-magnetism, a five-day power reserve, a 10-year warranty and 10-year recommended service intervals.
