In a groundbreaking collaboration powered by the Moncler Genius platform for co-creation, multi-hyphenate talent NIGO has brought together the worlds of Moncler and Mercedes-Benz with his own unique artistic vision. The result? The Moncler x Mercedes-Benz by NIGO collection and the limited-edition G-Class Past II Future car, an innovative fusion of 80s and 90s design influences paired with New York hip-hop culture. This collection marks a creative milestone, blending the legacy of two iconic brands with NIGO’s cultural expertise.

NIGO’s Creative Vision: A Deep Dive into the Past

Known for his work as a designer, entrepreneur, record producer, and DJ, NIGO is no stranger to the power of archival research. His philosophy is rooted in the belief that to create something new, one must learn from the past. “I always refer to the past,” NIGO explains, drawing on his upbringing in Japan, where a saying encourages learning from history to pave the way for new creations. With the Moncler x Mercedes-Benz collaboration, NIGO had ample material to work with: the rich histories of both Moncler and Mercedes-Benz, alongside his lifelong passion for music.

This co-creation project was a natural fit for NIGO, who is known for his ability to bridge various cultural and creative worlds. In joining the Moncler Genius roster, NIGO created a personal interpretation of the Moncler universe, enhanced by the instantly recognizable iconography of Mercedes-Benz. The collection encapsulates the spirit of the quintessential mountain-born brand, Moncler, fused with the power and luxury of the renowned car brand Mercedes-Benz, all filtered through the eyes of NIGO, a creator who thrives on connecting diverse cultural touchpoints.

Design Fusion: Vintage Americana Meets Luxury Automotive Aesthetics

The Moncler x Mercedes-Benz by NIGO collection is a visual and stylistic fusion that brings together distinct design elements from both brands. The G-Class vehicle is prominently featured through prints, embroidery, and photographic scenes pulled from Moncler’s archives, reimagined with new city layers. The collection has a strong vintage Americana influence, channeling the spirit of the 80s and 90s with pieces like varsity jackets, hoodies, and checked shirts that complement the interior details of the G-Class. A standout piece is the washed-denim jacket and matching pants set, which showcases NIGO’s signature look.

The collection also incorporates key Moncler features, such as its iconic puffer jackets, with a twist. A puffer adorned with the Mercedes-Benz three-pointed star and a heritage Moncler font adds bold statement lettering to base layers. These pieces combine the rugged outdoor aesthetic of Moncler with the refined luxury of Mercedes-Benz, reflecting NIGO’s deep understanding of both brands’ core identities.

Campaign and Co-Creation Process: A Nod to New York’s Creative Energy

The Moncler x Mercedes-Benz by NIGO collection is showcased in a series of vibrant, New York-inspired images captured by photographer Thibaut Grevet. The campaign draws inspiration from rooftop parties in the city, with a cast of models wearing the collection, gathered as friends in a Mercedes-Benz vehicle. The NYC water tower in the background further roots the campaign in the energy and spirit of the city.

An accompanying documentary delves into NIGO’s co-creation process, highlighting how he integrates references from the past into his work while simultaneously pushing forward into the future. This film captures the essence of NIGO’s creative ethos: a blending of past influences to build something innovative and forward-thinking.

The collection was first unveiled at Moncler’s immersive The City of Genius show in Shanghai in 2024. Now, it is available in select Moncler stores and on moncler.com, giving fans and collectors a chance to experience this unique collaboration firsthand.

New York Launch Event: A Celebration of Collaboration and Creativity

On April 4th, 2025, the Moncler x Mercedes-Benz by NIGO collection made its debut in New York, bringing together the city’s creative communities for an unforgettable evening. Hosted at the newly opened Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan flagship dealership, the event was a celebration of creativity, culture, and collaboration. Notable figures from fashion, music, art, and entertainment gathered, including Alton Mason, Chloe Wise, Joey Badass, Kaws, and many more, all coming together to mark the launch of this one-of-a-kind collaboration.

Guests were transported into the heart of the event through a blacked-out photocall elevator-turned-time portal, taking them on a journey that showcased vintage cars and transformed spaces. The event’s atmosphere perfectly embodied the fusion of past and future, with the futuristic showroom becoming a dining hall, where automotive-inspired cuisine was served. The chefs from New York’s Nami Nori and innovative pastry chef Eunjin Lee prepared dishes that reflected key elements from the co-created G-Class, such as metal bodywork, golden flower vases resembling jerrycans, puffer elements, and checked patterns from the car’s interior. Waitstaff dressed as mechanics served desserts from gleaming toolboxes, further blurring the lines between art, fashion, and automobile design.

The event culminated with the unveiling of the G-Class Past II Future car, a limited-edition model that embodies the spirit of the collaboration between Moncler, Mercedes-Benz, and NIGO. This vehicle stands as a testament to the power of merging iconic design elements with innovative, future-forward thinking.

A Cultural Fusion: Past Meets Future

The Moncler x Mercedes-Benz by NIGO collection and G-Class Past II Future car encapsulate the spirit of cultural fusion, bringing together the past and future in a celebration of design, fashion, and music. By drawing from the legacies of both Moncler and Mercedes-Benz, while incorporating NIGO’s signature cultural references, this collaboration has created a lasting impact on the worlds of fashion, automotive design, and beyond.
