Chevrolet has unveiled two extraordinary concept cars that are set to shape the future of America’s most iconic sports car. The Corvette CX and Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo made their global debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, drawing worldwide attention from car enthusiasts and design aficionados alike. While these models will not enter production, their groundbreaking concepts are expected to heavily influence Corvette’s design language for years to come.

At their core, the CX and CX.R concepts embody more than 70 years of Corvette performance heritage while embracing cutting-edge innovation. Designed at the Chevrolet Performance Studio in Warren, Michigan, the duo represents the culmination of a global GM design exercise. According to Phil Zak, Executive Design Director for Chevrolet, these concepts allowed teams to push boundaries without the constraints of production, resulting in a vision that is “aspirational, cultural, and undeniably Corvette.”

The Corvette CX concept was conceived as the ultimate high-performance electric supercar, equally at home on the street and the racetrack. Its unmistakable Corvette DNA is evident in hallmark features such as the forward-lunging nose, dual-element taillights, and sleek, fighter-jet-inspired cockpit canopy. Yet beneath its aerodynamic skin lies a revolution: a four-motor, all-wheel-drive electric powertrain delivering more than 2,000 horsepower.

Aerodynamics take center stage in the CX, thanks to a pioneering Vacuum Fan System that draws air through open channels in the bodywork to generate downforce. Complemented by active front and rear aero elements, the car constantly adapts to driver inputs, ensuring maximum grip and agility. From its wing-shaped suspension arms to a low-slung roofline under 41 inches, every detail of the CX speaks to performance-first engineering.

Inside, the CX concept offers an immersive, driver-focused environment. The forward-opening canopy reveals seating upholstered in Inferno Red ballistic textile and finished with premium silicone leather, milled aluminum, and forged carbon fiber. A digital windscreen transforms the windshield into a panoramic performance display, while key controls are integrated seamlessly into the steering wheel to maintain a pure connection between driver and machine.

If the CX imagines the supercar of tomorrow, the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo represents the next era of Corvette’s racing legacy. Inspired by Corvette’s championship-winning motorsport heritage, the CX.R is a track-exclusive machine designed for virtual and real-world competition. With its aggressive stance, low ride height, and extensive active aero features, the CX.R is purpose-built for dominance on the circuit.

The interior of the CX.R is stripped of luxury for pure function. Lightweight carbon-fiber weave surfaces, suede-wrapped foam seating, and reinforced headrest pads provide the necessary grip and support for high-intensity racing conditions. Under the hood, the CX.R combines Corvette’s electric performance DNA with visceral racing power: a mid-mounted twin-turbo V8 revving to 15,000 rpm, paired with three electric motors for a staggering 2,000-horsepower system output.

Both concepts were engineered in partnership with Polyphony Digital, allowing enthusiasts to experience them virtually in Gran Turismo 7. Players will soon be able to drive the CX and CX.R, exploring their innovative aerodynamics, hybrid powertrains, and future-focused design on some of the world’s most iconic racing circuits.

For Corvette, these concept cars represent more than design experiments—they symbolize the bold path forward. From all-electric supercars to track-focused hybrids, the CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo prove that Corvette’s future will honor its heritage while redefining what performance, innovation, and passion look like in the decades to come.
