RM Sotheby’s has announced a landmark moment in automotive history: the auction of a 1994 McLaren F1 alongside a 2025 Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 at the inaugural Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week this December. It will be the first time both of Professor Gordon Murray’s road car masterpieces have been presented together at auction — and the first time a T.50 has ever been offered publicly.
The McLaren F1 is widely considered the greatest supercar of the modern era. Designed with Formula 1-inspired technology and pioneering carbon fibre construction, its 6.1-litre BMW V-12 produced 627 bhp and redefined performance benchmarks for a generation. The example crossing the block in Abu Dhabi, chassis 014, is one of just 64 road-going F1s. Originally delivered to the Brunei Royal Family, it was later rebuilt by McLaren and fitted with the coveted High-Downforce Kit, LM-spec details, and carries the rare distinction of autographs from both Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. With fewer than 14,000 kilometres, it is expected to achieve in excess of $21 million USD.

The GMA T.50, by contrast, represents Gordon Murray’s vision thirty years on — an evolution of his uncompromising pursuit of the ultimate driver’s car. Powered by a 4.0-litre Cosworth-built V-12 producing 661 bhp, the T.50 is the lightest and most responsive engine of its kind, capable of extraordinary pickup speeds. Only 100 examples will ever exist, and the car offered in Abu Dhabi, chassis 035, is beautifully specified in Harrier paint with gloss carbon accents and Heritage Orange details. With fewer than 300 kilometres driven, it carries an estimate in excess of $5 million USD.
Together, these cars embody Murray’s legacy: the F1 as the definitive supercar benchmark, and the T.50 as its spiritual successor, blending modern engineering with the same obsession for purity, balance, and performance. To see them offered side by side is a rare cultural moment that transcends motoring, positioning them as collectible works of art as much as machines.
Hosted at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort during Formula 1 weekend, Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week will unite automobiles, fine art, jewellery, watches, and design in one global stage celebrating rarity and excellence. For RM Sotheby’s, it is an opportunity not only to showcase extraordinary cars but to situate them within the wider world of collecting.

“These two cars represent the very spirit of Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week,” says Duccio Lopresto, Managing Director, MENA at RM Sotheby’s. “They embody performance, craftsmanship, and exclusivity — qualities that resonate far beyond the automotive world.”
For collectors, enthusiasts, and admirers alike, the pairing of McLaren F1 and GMA T.50 offers a once-in-a-generation glimpse into the genius of Gordon Murray, where engineering brilliance and visionary design converge.
