The Four Rings Meet the Fast Lane: Audi Officially Enters the F1 Arena

In a city known for its architectural drama and history of reinvention, Berlin played host to a pivotal moment in the evolution of the “Four Rings”. On a Tuesday evening inside the industrial-cool Kraftwerk heating plant, the Audi Revolut F1 Team made its official public debut. This isn’t just another team on the grid; it is the manifestation of Audi’s DNA—pioneering, determined, and now, unapologetically electric.

A New Breed of Machine

The star of the show, the Audi R26, is a technical marvel built for Formula 1’s most significant era of upheaval. For the first time, the full power of the project was on display, featuring a livery that balances unmistakable Audi heritage with a futuristic, “Revolut” edge.

  • The Heart: The AFR 26 Hybrid power unit, developed in-house at Neuburg an der Donau, has already been fired up in the chassis and completed its first rollout in Barcelona.
  • Active Aero: The R26 will feature active front and rear wings that can be adjusted mid-race, a first for the series.
  • The “Boost” Era: Replacing the traditional DRS is a new “boost mode,” delivering up to 350 kW of electric power at the touch of a button—nearly as much as the car’s 1.6-liter V6 turbo engine.
  • Sustainable Fuel: Working exclusively with bp, the team is fueling its ambitions with sustainable alternatives to traditional petrol.

The Visionaries and the Drivers

Under the unique Mitte heating plant lights, the leadership duo of Jonathan Wheatley (Team Principal) and Mattia Binotto (Head of Audi F1 Project) introduced the men who will lead the charge on track.

Veteran German driver Nico Hülkenberg and Brazilian talent Gabriel Bortoleto stepped out in their official 2026 driver overalls, showcasing a new corporate identity that spans from the racetrack to social media. For the fans, the “Four Rings” experience extends beyond the grandstands; a coordinated fan collection will be available via adidas starting February 19.

The debut isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about a strategic realignment toward high-tech, sustainable luxury.

“We are ready and excited to inspire people around the world by taking part in Formula 1.” — Gernot Döllner, CEO of AUDI AG

The countdown is now officially on. Following a final shakedown in Barcelona this January and official testing in Bahrain this February, Audi will make its historic Grand Prix debut in Australia on March 8. In a sport where every millisecond counts, Audi isn’t just joining the race—they are looking to redefine it.
