Jaguar Type 00 Makes Dazzling Monaco Debut on a Floating Terrace During Formula E Weekend

There are few places where design, drama and destination align quite so effortlessly as Monaco during race weekend. Against the glinting expanse of the Mediterranean and the slow swirl of Monte Carlo’s superyachts, Jaguar unveiled its most arresting creation yet: the Type 00. Set on a bespoke floating ocean terrace, this sculptural concept car made its Riviera debut not in a showroom nor under fluorescent lights—but on water, basking in soft sunlight and surrounded by the hum of anticipation.

The arrival of Type 00 in Monaco marks a new chapter in Jaguar’s evolving design story. First glimpsed under the flashbulbs of Paris Fashion Week, where it caused a stir on the city’s cobbled streets, the car became an unexpected icon—spotted with A-listers like Barry Keoghan, Jamie Dornan, and Zoë Saldaña gliding to soirées in what looked like the future reimagined in aluminium and satin. But here in Monaco, the energy shifted. There was no need for the chaos of crowds. Instead, it was poise that took centre stage.

Finished in French Ultramarine, a bespoke in-house colour crafted by Jaguar’s creative team, Type 00 is not just painted—it’s dressed. The shade carries a unique pigment infused with metallic elements, giving it a luminous, almost oceanic depth. Under the Riviera sun, it oscillates between moody steel and vibrant cobalt. It’s this kind of chromatic storytelling that positions Type 00 as something far beyond a design study—it’s a statement of intent.

“Following Type 00’s European debut at Paris Fashion Week, we’re excited to bring the brand to Monaco, the ideal backdrop to showcase Jaguar’s vision for the future of automotive luxury,” said Rawdon Glover, Managing Director of Jaguar. And what a vision it is—bold lines, exuberant proportions, and an unmistakable silhouette that nods to Jaguar’s legacy while propelling it into an entirely new orbit.

As VIP guests arrived on the terrace, discreetly cordoned off from the weekend’s festivities, there was a palpable reverence—not just for the car, but for the moment. Formula E, after all, is more than just a race; it’s where performance meets innovation, where legacy brands like Jaguar can quietly but powerfully restate their purpose.

The debut also serves as a callback to Jaguar’s “Copy Nothing” ethos—an uncompromising commitment to originality first championed by founder Sir William Lyons. Type 00 embodies that philosophy in every curve and surface. First unveiled at Miami Art Week in December 2024, the car continues to travel not just across continents, but across cultural touchpoints—from art to fashion to motorsport.
