Rolls-Royce Unveils Bespoke Black Badge Cullinan Series II ‘Desert Sunset’ in Doha

As twilight descends over Doha, the sky dissolves into a gradient of molten bronze, rose, and burnished gold. It is this fleeting spectacle of the Qatari sunset that inspired Rolls-Royce’s latest Bespoke masterpiece: the Black Badge Cullinan Series II ‘Desert Sunset’. Commissioned by a longstanding Qatari client through the marque’s Private Office Dubai, this singular creation is more than a motor car—it is a moving canvas capturing the splendour of the desert horizon.

From the moment it comes into view, the ‘Desert Sunset’ commands attention with its dramatic two-tone exterior. The body shimmers in Bronze, a colour evoking the golden-brown hues of the Arabian Peninsula’s iron-rich sands, while the roofline gleams in Sunrise Sparkle, echoing the glow of Doha’s skyline at dusk. Every curve reflects not just meticulous engineering but an artist’s hand, translating natural beauty into a language of luxury.

Inside, the narrative continues with leathers dyed in Sunrise, Casden Tan, and Havana, all layered with the delicacy of a painter’s brushstroke. Bespoke perforations, designed to mimic cloud formations over Goodwood, grace the seats, while Mimosa Negra open-pore veneers anchor the cabin with tactile depth. The attention to detail—contrast stitching, embroidered Prancing Horse-like ‘RR’ monograms, lambswool floor mats—underscores Rolls-Royce’s reputation as a true maison of craftsmanship.

For Rolls-Royce, the Middle East is not simply a market—it is a crucible of creativity. “Our clients’ ever-growing demand for individualisation has made the region our most valuable market for Bespoke motor cars,” remarks James Crichton, Regional Director, Middle East & Africa. “This expressive Cullinan is proof of how our Bespoke team can distil cultural spirit and geography into rolling art.” Ayman Berjawi, General Manager of Rolls-Royce Doha, echoes the sentiment: “‘Desert Sunset’ is both a tribute to Qatar’s natural beauty and a reflection of the intimate bond between Rolls-Royce and our clients.”

Commissioned through Private Office Dubai—Rolls-Royce’s first creative outpost outside Goodwood, opened in 2022—the project exemplifies the brand’s philosophy of co-creation. Available only by invitation, the Private Office offers discerning clients the rare opportunity to shape their own motor car with Bespoke designers in a setting as private and personal as the car itself. For the Qatari patron, this process has resulted in a motor car that transcends utility, becoming a moving embodiment of place, memory, and identity.

The Black Badge Cullinan Series II ‘Desert Sunset’ is not just a symbol of wealth or exclusivity; it is a love letter to Doha, its sands, and its skies. A fleeting sunset preserved forever in motion, it reaffirms Rolls-Royce’s enduring truth: a motor car, when imagined through the Bespoke lens, can be as evocative as a work of art.

Beyond its design, the ‘Desert Sunset’ embodies Rolls-Royce’s unique relationship with the Middle East, where individuality is both a cultural value and a lifestyle statement. Clients in the region increasingly seek motor cars that reflect not only their personal journeys but also the heritage and landscapes that shape their identity. The Black Badge Cullinan Series II ‘Desert Sunset’ illustrates this desire perfectly, standing as a rolling portrait of Qatar’s timeless desert scenery and its vibrant, modern skyline.

What sets this commission apart is not just its craftsmanship, but its storytelling. Each detail, from the bronze exterior that mirrors shifting sands to the cloud-inspired perforations inside, speaks to a narrative of transition—day into night, tradition into modernity, and nature into artistry. In this way, the ‘Desert Sunset’ becomes more than transport; it is a vessel of meaning, capturing fleeting moments and preserving them in permanence.

For those who encounter it on Doha’s streets, the car is not just a display of opulence but an emblem of cultural pride. It stands as a reminder that in the realm of true luxury, the most coveted possessions are not those defined by scarcity alone, but those infused with soul, memory, and a sense of place. The ‘Desert Sunset’ is precisely that—a singular creation that reflects the heartbeat of the desert and the vision of its owner, all wrapped in the unmistakable aura of Rolls-Royce.
